WABA Board Communication

Dear Member Clubs

General Council

Over the last few months, Welsh Boxing has made great strides in strengthening the organisation and confidence from external partners and funders has never been greater.

The AGM last year approved a number of resolutions enabling the Board to operate more professionally, for the first time in many years the Accounts were approved by our Accountants as a ‘clean’ set of accounts, we have now finalised with Deloittes and Sport Wales the long standing Audit Report and this matter is now closed, and the Performance Team continue to be successful on the international stage.

We have recently met with Sport Wales on our Governance and Finance Action plans, and one part of this agreed Board action plan is to review the current workings of our sub-committees.  The General Council is one of those sub-committees and last night a Board delegation met with General Council to advise them of the review into the current Terms of Reference.

After a full discussion, General Council has been asked to present a proposal to the Board in how it would like to operate in future with the outcome being that the General Council is clear about its objectives and is accountable to the Board to deliver these objectives.

We anticipate this review might take a few months and will keep you informed of progress.
