Who we are are

The Board of Directors (BOD) draws its authority from the Memorandum and Articles of Association of WABA Ltd. Directors are elected by the WABA Membership at an Annual General Meeting. The BOD meet quarterly or on an ad hoc basis and a record of its meetings can be found by clicking here.

Effective governance is critical to the health of any organisation and the WABA is committed to ensuring the maintenance of a robust system of governance with clear lines of accountability for all aspects of the organisation. An elected Board of Directors is accountable for ensuring effective governance and for delivering the objectives and mission of the sport.

The WABA Board of Directors is responsible and accountable for targets and delivery of the Whole Sport Plan, and is responsible for financial management, commercial explanation, development of corporate identity, reputation and media profile, overview of rules and regulations, sports administration and development. The board sets the WABA’s annual budget and is responsible for the sport’s long term direction and growth.

The Board comprises of a Chairperson, a Vice-Chairperson and a Treasurer plus four Directors together with a non-voting Company Secretary. The Board also has Authority to co-opt Non- Executive Directors whose expertise may benefit the WABA. The Chair, Vice-Chair, Treasurer and four Directors are elected by the WABA Membership. The Chairperson and Treasurer are elected for a period of four years The Vice-Chair and elected Directors are in place for a two year term of Office. These are all unpaid roles.

The WABA General Council is made up of three representatives from each of the four regional divisions (North, South, East & West). It is responsible to the Board of Directors for the day to day administration of WABA Boxing in accordance with the Terms of Reference provided by the Board and its members. Directors of the WABA Board may attend these meetings in a non-voting capacity.
