Selby Crowned European Champion
Andrew Selby beat Michael Conlon in this afternoons Flyweight final in Minsk. Andrew has retained his European flyweight crown and becomes the first Welshman and Briton to ever achieve such a feat! This was another fine display from Andrew against Conlon, the Olympic bronze medallist. Selby dominated all three rounds of the bout, with Conlon very rarely able to land any forceful shots. Congratulations to Andrew and to all that have contributed to his career to date.

Boxer Database released!
After months of developing, the WABA Boxer Database has been released via the website. The database contains over 170 boxers with individual profiles that can be used to set up matches with other club boxers. Clubs and users can search boxers in a number of ways: 1) Year of Birth 2) Weight 3) Class 4) Stance 5) Region 6) Gender Clubs can also add their boxers using this site. Full Coaching Course – North Wales 22nd/23rd June
Eleven coaches are booked onto the Level One Course in Llandudno, North Wales this weekend. The aim of this course is to prepare our Assistant Coaches with the skills and knowledge to best prepare our boxers at every age group, from a newcomer to a Youth boxer looking to take the next step in their boxing career in a safe environment. European Union Championships – Selection
Wales will look to take a team of two to the European Women’s Confederation Championships later this month. The team selection is as follows: 48kg – Lynsey Holdaway (Sandfield & Baglan) 60kg – Charlene Jones (Merlins Bridge) The team will be supported by: Mark James (Programme Coach) Donna Mayes (Team Manager) The competition will take place in Keszthely (Hungary) from 30th June to 7th July.

Welcome to The Welsh Amateur Boxing website

Welcome to Welsh Boxing, the home of the Welsh Amateur Boxing Association (WABA). The WABA is the National Governing Body (NGB) for amateur boxing in Wales. It is a National Member Federation of the International Amateur Boxing Association (AIBA) and also a home nation member of the British Amateur Boxing Association (BABA) which is funded by UK Sport to deliver the GB Boxing team at the Olympic Games.

After the success of amateur boxing at the London 2012 Olympic Games with Great Britain winning 5 medals and Wales’ own Fred Evans winning silver, it is an exciting time for men and women to become involved in our thriving boxing community.

There are lots of ways to get involved in amateur boxing, as a boxer, coach, judge, referee or even helping make sure the club runs smoothly, everyone is welcome!
